How Many Days are Required to Explore Mount Abu?

To make the most of your solo trip to Mount Abu, I would say that three days would be enough. With these many days in hand, you can explore pretty much every popular tourist attraction without missing out on anything important. Also, if lucky enough, you may even be able to check out some of the not-so-popular and unique tourist places in the hill station.

The best aspect about Mount Abu is that it is the only hill station in Rajasthan, and the weather remains pleasant throughout the year. This way, you can rest assured that the weather will not hamper your solo trip. However, if possible, I would recommend that you still keep a day or two extra in case something unexpected comes up.

If you are an adventure enthusiast, you are in for a treat. The hill station offers a plethora of adrenaline-pumping activities for its visitors to try their hands on. But if you prefer simple, relaxed vacations, then Mount Abu is great for that too. It is surrounded by lush greenery and hills, allowing you to relax and unwind in the arms of nature!

With three days, you can check out most of what Mount Abu offers. If you have the budget and the time, you can even extend your trip and check out the local culture.

Day 1 in Mount Abu

I recommend that you start your first day in Mount Abu by checking out the religious sites. The hill station is widely famous for the holy monuments and houses quite many temples that you can explore.

Dilwara Temples

Arguably the most prominent tourist attraction in Mount Abu, Dilwara Temples are sacred to the Jain community. The temples were built back in the 11th and 13th centuries by Vimal Shah. Both the interiors and exteriors of the temples are adorned with intricate designs and patterns. The excellent craftsmanship of these temples makes them a delight to the eyes!

Gaumukh Temple

Dedicated to the Hindu God Lord Shiva, the Gaumukh Temple is a must-visit for adventure lovers. The temple requires you to climb about 700 steps, and the panoramic views of the valley and hills make it all worthwhile. It is engulfed by the lush green forests and makes for a beautiful experience for those looking to explore Mount Abu at its finest.

Arbuda Devi Temple

This temple is among the most beautiful religious sites on Mount Abu. Arbuda Devi Temple showcases the rich architectural heritage of the state and is a perfect place for tourists looking to explore unique places in Mount Abu. More often, the temple is visited by thousands of devotees and visitors during the nine days of the Hindu festival – Navratri.

Day 2 in Mount Abu

On your second day, you can get your adrenaline pumping by trying out the fun and adventurous activities on Mount Abu. One of the most famous adventure activities that you can try here is trekking. The hill station offers approximately 17 nature trails and treks for you to choose from. After completing the trek, you can camp under the stars and enjoy a bonfire and barbecue to make your experience memorable.

Day 3 in Mount Abu

After an adventurous day, you can easily take your third day at the hill station. Start with a hearty breakfast meal and explore nature or the wildlife sanctuaries. You can even check out the numerous sunrise and sunset points for a soothing and relaxing experience on your solo trip to Mount Abu.

Nakki Lake

This is one of the most-visited tourist places in Mount Abu, and rightfully so. A serene lake amidst the verdant greenery, Nakki Lake is towered by the mighty Aravalli hills and several rock formations. It is a man-made lake built about 1200 metres above sea level. Locals call the Nakki Lake the ‘Love Lake’ of the hill station. Pedalling in this lake while soaking in the gorgeous views is the best way to relax after a tough day trekking and camping!

Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary

Home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-visit for all nature lovers. The sanctuary is stretched across 7 kilometres in length and 300 meters in width and spans a total area of 290 square kilometres. It is the perfect place for you to spend a lazy afternoon without having to tire yourself too much. Some famous fauna species at the sanctuary are small Indian civet, porcupine, Indian hare, and sloth bear.

Sunset Point

The Sunset Point is a hidden gem in the hill station, because of which it is usually less crowded. After spending your day exploring Mount Abu, you can visit this peak point to witness the beautiful views of the sun going down. It is at a short distance of 3 kilometres from the famous Nakki Lake, and you can hail a taxi to reach here. And hey, don’t forget to carry your camera to capture the stunning sunset!
