Kumbhalgarh Fort – The Great Wall of India

One of the most important forts of Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh Fort, is absolutely beautiful. The pictures on the internet do not do justice to how surreal it is in real life! The beauty of the fort lies in the topography of the place. Nestled in the foothills of the Aravalli Ranges, the fort is 38 kilometres long, and it surrounds the city of Udaipur. Built by Rana Kumbha in the 15th century, the fort is considered the birthplace of Maharana Pratap. The fort has protected the Mewar dynasty from so many attacks yet still stands strong in the present times. You will have to keep a day for exclusively exploring the fort and learning about the place’s fascinating history. Do not miss out on the nearby attractions as well.

As you enter the fort, your attention will be drawn by the fort’s wall. After the Great Wall of China, Kumbhalgarh Fort has the second largest wall in the world. It is also a UNESCO world heritage site under the group hill forts of Rajasthan. The fort’s architecture is another reason it is a treat to the eyes.

If you are searching for adventure and ways to break the monotony, I suggest you go for a hike in the Kumbhalgarh Fort. The secluded atmosphere lends a tranquil vibe to the fort. Catch the spectacular sunset from the bird’s eye view. Witnessing such magical sunsets remains one of my favourite things when I am on my solo venture. And honestly speaking, Udaipur has got some amazing locations for sunrise/sunset in the whole of Rajasthan!
