How to Reach Udaipur | Solo Female Travel

You can reach Udaipur by air, rail, and road. Yes, Udaipur has all three possible transportation facilities. Hence, it paves the way for travellers to choose their best economic fit. If you are tight on budget, you should take a train to Udaipur. The train is the cheapest and the most convenient transportation to reach Udaipur. Likewise, if you are ready to spend money and pressed for time, take a flight to Udaipur. Choosing a bus or taxi or any road trip takes the middle position. Road trips are not as expensive as flight rides. At the same time, they are not as convenient as a train journey. Nevertheless, the bus journey is for the people staying nearer to Udaipur. Preferably very close that bus travel takes not more than 4 hours.

How to reach Udaipur by air

Yes, you can reach Udaipur by air. There is a domestic airport in Udaipur. It is called the Maharana Pratap Airport, also known as Dabok Airport. It is located at a distance of 22 km from the main city of Udaipur. But you cannot directly fly if you are located internationally. Hence to reach Udaipur by air, you must first reach a major city in India. Maharana Pratap Airport is well connected to cities like Delhi, Jodhpur, Mumbai, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur. So if you aren’t located in India, you may find jumping two routes irksome.

However, think of the bright side. You have an airport in Udaipur through which you can move to the nearby popular destinations like Jodhpur, Kota, and Jaisalmer. And it is not limited to Rajasthan alone. If you were to extend your solo trip to places like Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, and Ahmedabad, Udaipur would be a convenient airport to use.

So, how will you go to the main city once you get to Udaipur Airport? Hiring a taxi in advance through a rental agency is the greatest option. The taxi will arrive on time to pick you up. You can read more about the transportation options accessible at the Udaipur airport in my blog post, “Is there an airport in Udaipur.”

How to reach Udaipur on a bus

When there is an airport available in Udaipur, it is taken that there will be a bus stop. Buses run regularly in Udaipur, connecting with Delhi, Jaipur, Indore, and Kota, with stops at various bus stations. Hence, travellers can choose from air-conditioned coaches, luxury buses, or ordinary state transport buses, depending on the budget and needs. These buses connect Udaipur to places like Chittorgarh (115 km), Jodhpur (260 km), and Bhilwara (166 km). Udaipur is also connected to Delhi and Mumbai by the well-kept NH 8. It is around 760 kilometres from Mumbai and Delhi, and the trip takes about 11 to 12 hours. I think bus rides are admirable only if they are for a short distance.

When travelling within Udaipur, I believe taking a road is admirable. But for long-distance travel, I prefer the train journey. However, you can take a bus if you plan to reach Udaipur by road. On the other hand, if you intend to rent a car, be mindful of the National Highway. The journey will be easier if you know which NH connects Udaipur. As far as I know, NH 8 connects Udaipur with major cities. That said, reaching Udaipur from Jaipur is the most travelled route. So, consider taking a bus or a taxi from Jaipur if you’re itching for a road adventure. Udaipur’s closest city is Jaipur. As a result, the journey will be brief.
