What are the Best Hostels in North Goa?

Goa is heaven on earth, with tantalising beaches offering spine-chilling water sports, historic temples and churches that are architectural marvels, and yoga and wellness centres to de-stress and rejuvenate. Name it, and Goa has it!

I love travelling to Goa, and during my various solo trips, my primary concern has been about my stay. I want a place to crash for the night at an affordable price but safe and secure for a solo woman traveller. This blog explores the various hostel options available in North Goa. Read on!

Hostels are great places to stay, provided the low price and safety it offers their visitors. Hostels are your best option when you are on a long trip to Goa and cannot spend too much for your stay, but also cannot compromise on safety. The following hostel options were my favourites during my solo trip to Goa.

1. Wonderland Hostel, Anjuna

I love travelling, not just for the exotic places I visit, but also for the beautiful culture of the place and the new lovely people I make friends with. Considering that, Wonderland Hostel in Anjuna is very close to my heart!

The owner and the staff at Wonderland Hostel are just fantastic and make you feel safe and at home. Anjuna is one of the happening places in North Goa, and the hostel is at a walkable distance from the Anjuna beach and the flea market. The hostel is also well-connected to all the tourist spots in North Goa, making your commute easier. 

It houses a shared kitchen, a garden with hanging chairs and other furnishings to relax, a gaming area, and an in-house café serving delicious food and beverages to the inmates. You are also within walking distance of numerous cafes and restaurants in the area, so you have many options to choose from.

Location: Govekar Waddo, Anjuna Flea Market Road, Anjuna, Goa.

Price per night: INR 1,235 onwards

2. Piggy Hostel

Available in many happening places of Goa like Arambol, Calangute, and Vagator in North Goa, the Piggy hostel provides a budget-friendly accommodation for backpackers, especially solo travellers. The hostel provides single private rooms, girls-only dorms, and mixed dorms, with facilities like an in-house café, in-house bar, and a sit-out garden area. The hostel’s proximity to eateries, cafes, clubs, beaches, and other must-visit places of North Goa makes it the best place to stay. 

Location: Ozran Beach Road Anjuna-Chapora Cross, Vagator.

Price per night: INR 1,600 onwards.

3. Craft Hostel, Anjuna

Just a few steps away from the Anjuna Beach at 100 m, the Craft hostel is the best place to crash for the night after an adventurous day in Goa. The hostel is close to Anjuna Beach, Baga Beach, Saturday Night Market, and St. Michael’s Church. 

The hostel has a shared kitchen accessible for all the inmates, but certain rooms have an attached kitchen with a stove-top. You can also choose between dorms, individual cottages, and double-occupancy rooms. You can book rooms from various online platforms like Booking.com. Better pre-book your room to confirm availability before your trip.  

Location: St. Michael’s Waddo House, Anjuna, Goa.

Price per night: INR 600 onwards.

4. Red Door Hostel, Anjuna

Walkable distance from Anjuna Beach, the Red Door Hostel provides all the essential amenities like a shared kitchen, wi-fi, secure lockers, and other services. The hostel has a 24-hour functional reception, which enables its visitors to enjoy the nightlife of Goa. You can get guidance on the must-visit places in Goa, hiring a cab/bike, clubs, bars, and restaurants. 

Location: Dmello Vaddo, Anjuna, Goa.

Price per night: INR 1,500 onwards.

5. Green Nest Hostel and Guest House, Calangute

Surrounded by a coconut and mango farm, green lush welcomes you from all sides of the Green Nest Hostel and Guest House. At Calangute, the hostel offers a high-end fitness centre and gym, a children’s play area, and complimentary high-speed wi-fi. It is within walking distance from Calangute Beach and famous clubs like Club Cabana. It also houses a garden and outdoor hangout spots for its guests.

Location: Kudas Vaddo, Arpora, Goa.

Price per night: INR 1,500 onwards.

6. Dreams Hostel

Dreams Hostel is the best option if you are a travel-lover wishing to enjoy Goa with a community of like-minded people. At a 9-minute walk from Vagator Beach, this hotel provides the perfect Portuguese home atmosphere. Depending on your budget and availability, you can choose between dorms and private rooms. The hostel offers a communal kitchen, a shared lounge, and a garden area. You can socialise with like-minded people in these common areas.

Location: Vagator Beach Road, Opp. To Garden Villa Restaurant, Vagator, Goa.

Price per night: INR 600 onwards.

7. Hostel Mandala


You should choose the Mandala Hostel if you want to be within walking distance of all the famous locations. It is just a 1-minute walk from Anjuna beach, located just behind the beach shacks. You can choose between dorms with 6 or 8 people capacity and private double bedrooms. You can access the shared kitchen, open garden, and terrace for socialising and partying.

Location: Prias Waddo, Anjuna Beach, Anjuna, Goa.

Price per night: INR 750 onwards.
